Here are ten questions we asked about Nia's incredible health gains.

1. Please give us a brief introduction about yourself.
My name is Nia, I am 25 years old and was born and raised in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I am a recent graduate from the University of Auckland having completed a bachelor’s in Social Work. I am now currently employed as a social worker, doing what I love.

2. What inspired you to start your journey with BBM?
One day, I was scrolling through Facebook and had noticed my cousin sharing Dave’s BBM live workouts. For a couple of days, I would see her sharing Dave’s lives as well as posting up videos of her working out. That was enough to motivate me to do something about my weight as well as changing the way I felt and viewed myself. Before engaging with BBM, I felt so self-conscious and had little confidence in myself. I did not like the way I looked. I was investing my time in drinking almost every weekend and consuming all sorts of bad food/junk.  After completing my first workout, that was the turning point for me. It was then that I knew, I will not turn back to my old ways.

3. Do you have any medical conditions or health issues? 
I have not had any medical or health issues, however, type 2 diabetes is an illness that is common within my family (generational issue). I knew, that if I did not change the way I was treating my body health, eventually I would be just another relative with the illness.

4. What did you find most challenging in your day to day life before you started BBM?
I was always tired and lazy. I could barely stay focused on anything. I was missing out on quality time with my family because of how lazy I was. This was me on a day to day basis and alongside that was the negative energy/feelings that came with it.


5. What BBM sessions do you attend and how often do you work out per week?
I firstly started during lockdown by watching the live videos Dave and the crew would upload on a day to day basis. This eventually led to attending BBM HQ once the lockdown restrictions were lifted. I was doing at least 4-6 BBM workouts a week.  And since then (14 weeks later), I have never felt better about myself and my overall wellbeing.

6. What has been the biggest/most noticeable change for you since starting?
That I have definitely lost weight. But most importantly, my attitude and outlook on myself and life has significantly changed. I do not suffer from feeling lazy or tired anymore. I am MUCH more energetic and overall, I feel so good in my own skin. Because of that, I am much more confident, and I could not be happier.

7. What changes did you make that has helped you on your journey?  
Definitely by cutting out my excessive drinking behaviour. Secondly, was cutting out the junk/bad food I was consuming on a day to day basis. This was hard, but my WHY was much more important and I just knew, it was time for me to change the way I am as a person for the better. I did some research and ended up doing a low-carb, high-fat diet as well as intermittent fasting (16:8) alongside BBM workouts. Now, it is my day to day routine and no longer a goal.

8. Do you know what your starting weight was - or would you be okay in sharing how much weight you have lost?
The 8th of April 2020 was the first day I started my journey (14 weeks and 5 days ago). I was weighing in at 115KG’s. I am now weighing in at 88.4KG’s. This could not have been possible if it weren’t for the collective effort by my family (we all are active BBM members) for the support and motivation we have given each other so I am beyond thankful and forever grateful for them.

9. What are your words of advice to those starting? 
Are you sick of feeling lazy? Tired? Little confidence? Are you unhappy with how you look and feel? Then you know you have to do something about it and overall because you deserve it! Get that WHY sussed out and use it as your day to day reminder to keep going. Hardest part is starting! YOU GOT THIS!

10. Any other comments you would like to share with us or feedback?
BBM is where it’s at for me. The culture of BBM is so friendly and non-judgmental with so much support. So, if you’re a first-timer and feel scared or shy, come on down to BBM HQ & TRUST ME when I say you will walk out experiencing exactly what I did and continue to, but only at/with BBM.
